Labor Day Weekend Fun!

I hope everything had a wonderful Labor Day Weekend and is enjoying this great weather! I don't mind a nice, cool day. I love hoodie weather!

Did anyone do anything fun for the holiday weekend? I didn't really have anything planned for the weekend other than enjoying some alone time with my husband and relaxing at home. We were thrilled!

Saturday we did just that, we stayed home, watched some movies, relaxed, and just enjoyed some time together. I made dinner and we ate it out on the balcony together. It was perfect.

Sunday, we got up, got ready, and headed out for church. Our church, Westside Family Church in Lenexa, does church in the park on Labor Day weekend, so service was in Theater in the Park in Shawnee. It was a beautiful day, warm sun and a nice cool breeze. Service had a great worship service, then a wonderful message by pastor Dan about going out into the world and sharing the love of Jesus, and then it ended with over 40 baptisms. It was a perfect start to the day. After service they had hamburgers, hotdogs, cookies, chips, and water for everyone. It was great. The hamburgers had this great smoky, woody flavor. The chocolate chip cookies were just warm enough from the sun that they held together, but the chips were melty. Yum! I wish I had taken photos, but I was too bus enjoying everything!

Afterwards we enjoyed driving around looking at stuff. Joey had never been around Shawnee Mission Park much, so I drove him around showing him what there was, then we drove through some neighborhoods for fun. We eventually ended up at Smiley's Golf Course and went putt putt golfing! We weren't very good, but we had a blast!

We headed home, watched a bit of TV, and then headed back out to Cheesecake Factory for some yummy appetizers. Their Ahi Tartare was SUPER delicious! The crab cake bites and the Sausage and Ricotta flatbread was yummy also! The chicken dumplings weren't so hot. It was mainly the sauce being way too salty, and since they were sitting in the sauce, you couldn't do anything about it.

Monday we were going to just stay at home so that Joey could study, study, study for his GMAT test this Friday. So I got up, made a big breakfast, and we ate it out on the balcony in our bathrobes :) We were relaxing into our lazy day...but then my sister called. We headed out to her farm in Missouri to have lunch with her, her husband, my dad, and his girlfriend. We had delicious ribeye steaks, roasted sweet potatoes, green beans and roasted peppers from the garden, and this delicious homemade parmesan jalapeno focaccia bread! It was so yummy.

They took us on an updated tour of the property. They had gotten a new (old) tractor and finally gotten to clear out their back 5 acres. It was great. Joey and I both got to drive Betty the tractor...I was terrified of bashing into something! (I didn't!) Then they discovered that I had never shot a gun before and we headed  off to do some target shooting. I was told I was pretty good for a beginner. I actually had a lot of fun. Now my mother wants to get me on the range. Ha. It's like I have graduated within my family. I think I was the only one not interested in guns.

We went back to the house, watched some youtube, ate some random snacks for dinner, and had a blast. We finally forced ourselves to leave because it was late and we had a long drive ahead of us.

Overall it was a great weekend and ended up being even better than we ever expected.

I hope everyone else had a wonderful weekend as well!
